Celebrating music from Birmingham & the Black Country

  • How to become a member

Membership is encouraged, free and open to all. Simply register and create a profile. Membership is essential if you intend to contribute to the archive as we will need your details so you can be fully credited with your submission.

Even if you don't have any memorabilia to upload we still recommend becoming a member as you can share your love for Metal by adding yourself to the map proving how global Metal music is. Members can also leave personalised comments on all items within the archive too. Sign up!

  • Why do I need to register?

You only really need to register if you intend to contribute to the archive, though we want as many people to register as possible to gauge how popular this music has grown from it's humble beginnings in the West Midlands, UK. Register and get involved.

  • Your profile

Your profile is a place where you can upload an image, drop a quick bio and give some shout outs to your favorite bands.

Your profile is also an opportunity to appear on the global map of metalheads. We want to know how far this music has spread so by filling in your location you can help us do this.

However, most importantly your profile is a showcase for the contributions you've made into the archive – a single place where all your metal memorabilia lives. The very best contributions to the archive have the opportunity to appear in a permanent exhibition in the UK.

  • Required fields

To become a member you must submit the following information: name, email, username, city & country. These are required so we can contact you should your contributions to the archive be good enough for the Home of Metal permanent exhibition in the UK next year.

Even if you don't contribute to the archive we still need this information so we can document how global Metal has become from it's beginnings in the West Midlands in the 1960's.

  • The map

We like the map. The map shows how far Metal has traveled. All the Home of Metal members can appear on this map should they wish via an option within the member profile page. How accurate your position is depends on how much address information you want to give.

  • Sharing my information

We're not a front for a marketing company, we're fans of metal just like you. We will not share your details with anyone else. You can find out more in our terms & conditions.
